Correspondence primarily concerns Service Recognition Board claims; restorations of citizenship rights; announcements of pardons, commutations, or reprieves; notices of resignations and appointments; Spanish-American War Veterans' Fund; political speeches and press releases; reward and proclamations for the capture of fugitives; and executive orders. The file contains state and federal documents; U.S. and Illinois Supreme Court decisions; Illinois Attorney General, State Treasurer and Superintendent of Public Instruction reports; and University of Illinois Board of Trustees minutes. The remaining correspondence with local, state and federal officials concerns the selective service system, draft deferments, conscientious objectors, Social Security, transportation of explosives, counterfeit cigarette tax meters, state seal and the 1952 presidential campaign.
